Before I talk about what I’m seeing happen in the tech world, I should probably explain where my information comes from. If your feed is full of hype, you start to believe hype. If your feed is full of criticism, everything starts to look broken. My perspective comes from a handful of sources that I check regularly, each for a different reason.

First is TechCrunch. This is where you can learn about what startups are being funded, acquired, or launched. It is about the ecosystem around the technology and how they support each other.

Then there is The Verge. The Verge is great for understanding how technology fits into culture and everyday life. It covers everything but it also looks at the social side of technology like how people actually use these products and how they affect the world around us.

For Apple news I usually check 9to5Mac. Apple moves slowly and deliberately, so the rumors and leaks often tell you as much as the official announcements. In my personal life I am an Apple user. I have done countless presentations and reports on Apple and its organizational strategy for my MBA degree. Watching the Apple ecosystem is useful because when Apple adopts a feature or technology, that is when it becomes mainstream.

Finally, one of my favorite ways to keep up with everything in tech that I enjoy is the Waveform: The MKBHD Podcast @WVFRM. Hearing the three hosts and the two producers talk through the news of the week gives a different perspective than reading an article. I was introduced to The Verge, TechCrunch, and 9to5Mac through this podcast. They cover all the important tech news of the week and have great personalities.

And of course Twitter (X) can be a great place to find articles and relevant news if your feed is optimized.

I try to see patterns in what is being built, what people care about, and where technology might be heading next because that’s really what I’m trying to do with this blog, take what I’m seeing, break it down, and explain how it fits into the bigger picture.

Please share with me your sources of tech news and how you stay informed. I want to add to my library of sources.
