Startups in Nevada: Hidden Opportunities Await

When people think about startups, Nevada is rarely the first place that comes to mind. Most conversations stick around Silicon Valley or New York. From where I sit, something interesting is happening. Nevada’s startup landscape is smaller, but that also means it’s more accessible if you know where to look.

One of the biggest advantages in Nevada right now is proximity. The ecosystem is tight enough that you can actually meet the people who matter, investors, programs, and founders without fighting through layers of gatekeeping. I’ve seen early stage founders get meaningful support here much faster than they might in more saturated markets. You might say however the trade-off is that resources and capital pools are still developing, which means founders have to be more intentional and scrappy. Since the ecosystem in Nevada is younger, the investors are more careful with their cash.

Knowing which organizations help startups, how funding actually flows in the region, and where opportunities are quietly forming is very valuable. Over this and the next posts, I’m going to map this out piece by piece so builders can move faster with less guesswork.

I’ve had the unique advantage of working with more than fifty startups through my limited role with StartUp NV (Nevada’s state wide accelerator and incubator), and that exposure allowed me to understand early-stage execution. I was able to identify patterns that led to funding and subsequent success. I’ll be sharing those patterns here because I think Nevada builders deserve better visibility into what they are doing. I will be introducing companies you have not heard of and sharing their stories.

If you’re building in Nevada or thinking about it, follow StartUp NV on LinkedIn for free events and take a look at StartUp NV’s blog for more resources.
